Biologist, Artist, Consultant Dr Rob Davies is a member of our ground crew who helps identify conservation and environmental priorities. Although not airborne himself, Rob has a special interest in airborne creatures especially raptors which are at the top of the food chain and indicate the health of the environment that they continually scrutinise from above. Rob did his PhD on assessing the role of Black Eagles as predators on Karoo farmland and then ran a conservation group dedicated to Birds of Prey from Johannesburg. This has since become the Raptor Conservation Group at the Endangered Wildlife Trust and one of their projects has successfully seen the return of the Bateleur as a breeding species to South African farmland in the northern Cape. Rob continues to support these and other conservation initiatives in Africa and makes a living as a consultant and by illustrating books. |
